Ooops! You didn’t win the lottery

On Friday, May 13th the State Department announced that the results of the 2012 Diversity Lottery it had previously posted were invalid and voided.  Every year 50,000 Lottery winners are randomly drawn by computer to receive immigrant visas and obtain permanent resident status in the United States.  Apparently, due to a computer programming error, the initial winners were not drawn randomly.  The State Department will conduct a new drawing and make the results available around July 15, 2011.  Additional details can be found at www.dvlottery.state.gov.
